This page explains how the plyoshooter project thinks, works, and draws its lines. The goal is clarity—about intent, limits, and how ideas here should (and shouldn’t) be interpreted as the project evolves.
What This Project Is About
plyoshooter is an independent, exploratory research project centered on basketball shooting performance—especially through biomechanics, stretch–shortening cycles, and motor learning.
The emphasis is on connecting ideas, exploring mechanisms, and generating better questions, not delivering finished training systems or guaranteed results.
Think of this as a research notebook made public, not a polished product.
How the Work Is Approached
The ideas shared here are informed by:
- Peer-reviewed scientific research
- Models from biomechanics and motor control
- Observation of skilled basketball shooting
- Ongoing reflection, synthesis, and theory-building
The process is iterative and evolving. Ideas may change, sharpen, or be discarded as understanding improves. Earlier posts reflect where the thinking was at the time—not permanent conclusions.
Short research notes are intentionally exploratory. Longer essays represent more settled thinking, but they’re still open to revision.
Evidence and Claims
- Peer-reviewed research is prioritized whenever possible
- Research from related areas (throwing, striking, locomotion, etc.) may be used carefully to inform hypotheses
- A lack of evidence is treated as uncertainty—not proof
Unless clearly stated otherwise, claims should be read as informed hypotheses, not established facts.
Scope and Boundaries
plyoshooter is:
- Focused on performance exploration, not injury treatment
- Interested in principles, not step-by-step prescriptions
- Written for curious athletes, coaches, and practitioners
plyoshooter is not:
- A medical or clinical service
- A diagnostic or therapeutic resource
- A coaching platform or training program
- A claim that one method is “the best”
Medical and Training Disclaimer
All content is provided for educational and informational purposes only.
Nothing on this site should be interpreted as medical advice, mental health guidance, physical therapy instruction, or individualized training recommendations. Always consult qualified professionals before changing training, health, or performance practices.
Athlete Safety First
Discussing elastic mechanisms, timing, or loading does not mean encouraging extreme or reckless training.
Any physical principles mentioned here should be considered in light of:
- Individual differences
- Tissue capacity and adaptation
- Gradual progression
- Proper supervision
Long-term athlete health always outweighs short-term performance gains.
Ethics of Communication
This project aims to be careful and honest:
- Uncertainty is stated when it exists
- Speculation is clearly labeled
- Unanswered questions are treated as valuable
- No hype, guarantees, or testimonials
The goal is understanding—not persuasion.
Openness and Evolution
At this stage, plyoshooter favors open inquiry over locked-down conclusions. Sharing ideas publicly helps clarify thinking, invite critique, and place ideas in context.
Everything here reflects the author’s current understanding—and that understanding is expected to change.
Contact and Discussion
Thoughtful feedback and discussion are welcome. That said, this site does not offer individualized coaching, consulting, or performance advice.
In Short
plyoshooter is guided by:
- Curiosity over certainty
- Exploration over prescription
- Ethics over exaggeration
- Athlete well-being over outcomes
The project exists to ask better questions—before pretending to have final answers.
